"REACH Ahead" a credit advancement opportunity

Audience:

Classes of 2020 and 2021

Description

Using online coursework, CISD students may earn high school credit in courses that are required for high school graduation.  This is for original credit only, meaning it is not for credit recovery.  Students are working independently, but will be required to attend daily sessions where a certified teacher will serve as a learning facilitator.

Dates:  (each session is four weeks long and meets Monday – Thursday)

Session One: June 3-6, 10-13, 17-20 and 24-27
Session Two: July 8-11, 15-18, 22-26 and July 29-August 1

Mornings  8:30 AM -12:00 Noon, or 
Afternoons  12:30 PM -4:00 PM

Courses Available:

  • English 4 (1 credit)
  • Algebra 2
  • US Government (1/2 credit)
  • Economics (1/2 credit)
  • Art 1
  • Spanish 2

(Students may enroll for up to one full credit each summer session.  Credit is granted based upon attendance and earning a passing grade in the course)

 

“REACH Beyonda Dual Credit Opportunity

Audience:

Classes of 2020 and 2021

Description:

Through a partnership with University of Texas – Permian Basin, students entering grades 11 and 12 may pursue dual credit (meaning they may earn both high school AND college credit concurrently) Students are working independently, but will be required to attend daily sessions where a certified teacher will serve as a learning facilitator.

Dates:  (each session is four weeks long and meets Monday – Thursday)

Session One: June 3-6, 10-13, 17-20 and 24-27
Session Two: July 8-11, 15-18, 22-26 and July 29-August 1

Times:  8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Courses Available:

  • Math 1314 (College Algebra) 
  • Math 2412 (PreCalculus)
  • COMM 1315 (Intro to Public Speaking)
  • MUSC 1301 (Jazz, Pop and Rock)
  • ART 1301 (Art Appreciation)
  • PSYC 1301 (Intro to Psychology)
  • SOC 1301 (Intro to Sociology)

 When you enroll for the REACH Beyond program, you will be invited to a mandatory parent meeting with Mrs. Kuhns to apply for UTPB,  complete the  appropriate TSI test for admissions (if needed) and enroll for your courses after individual advising.

 

“REACH Within” a College and Career Readiness Experience

 

Audience:

Students entering grades 9-12 (Classes of 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 are invited

Description:

During this engaging 16-day program, students will explore career interests and aptitudes, investigate colleges, practice writing college admission and scholarship essays, hear from college representatives and industry professionals, and even complete a preparation course for the TSI (Texas Success Initiative exam) and the SAT!

Dates:

Monday through Thursday of each week

July 8-11, 15-18, 22-25, and July 29-August 1

Times:

8:00 AM – 1:00 PM Monday through Thursday  (Breakfast and Lunch will be provided each day)
