When a student enrolls in REACH High School, not only is there an immediate focus on the goal of graduation, but there is also an immediate focus on a successful life beyond graduation. For this reason, guest speakers are invited to speak with our students in many various capacities. This year, in addition to colleges, trade schools, and such, each branch of the military will be presenting information to our students.

Our first military branch guest speaker was Staff Sergeant Ochoa from the U.S. Marine Corps. on Friday, September 7th. SSgt Ochoa has been enlisted in the military for 14 years and has traveled all over the world. She is married, a mother of two children, with another to arrive in January.

She shared information with our students regarding ways the Marines assists enlistees to be successful such as education, technical skills, leadership skills, and management skills. SSgt went into depth the educational benefits for both active duty as well as the reserve.

The Marine Corp. has the reputation of being the toughest branch of the military and this is demonstrated in the high expectations for mental, physical, and moral well being. U.S. Citizenship is required and the age range to enlist is 17-28 years old.
