On Friday, January 18th, twenty students went to the Fort Worth Veterans Administration Outpatient Hospital to volunteer in various capacities. Some of the students greeted veterans as they arrived, others served cookies, and others spent time talking and getting to know the heroes.

Our students enjoyed the experience and several plan to return to volunteer after school and/or on weekends.

Stephanie B. shares, “Visiting the VA hospital was a really amazing and heart-touching experience. I loved hearing stories and getting to know about the veterans. It was truly an experience that I will always remember.”

Elyssia E. says, “The VA Outpatient Hospital was an interesting and quite a learning experience. It was interesting and unique learning different stories and the amount of years that each veteran served in the military. I am forever thankful for each one for their service.”

Anna T. concludes, “I really enjoyed going to the VA hospital. I loved meeting some of the veterans and talking to them melted my heart when they would tell me they enjoyed my company as well. One guy in particular stood out to me and told, ‘I’m very thankful you took time out of your day to talk to me. You make me feel young.’ I very much hope we can go once again before I finish school. If not, it’s Ok. I, for sure, will be going back on my own free time.”
