Students and staff gathered in the Commons Area on September 6th to reexamine the school’s current vision statement. Mrs. Byther led the students and staff in a process which began with the definition of a vision statement and continuing with a vision writing session.
Various components of the presentation assisted the students in the process of writing an effective vision statement. The components included: Selected characteristics of an effective vision, how to craft a vision statement, identifying core values, determining the ideal school, and creating the vision.
Students worked individually, in small groups, and then with their advisory group, to write a total of five potential vision statements. The students and staff then received a ballot with the five potential vision statements and had the opportunity to vote for the most effective vision statement.
As a result, the new vision statement for REACH is, “At REACH High School, we work as a team to graduate as scholars while providing real-world learning opportunities for future goals.”
