Credit Celebration

Credit Celebration and Award Ceremony
Posted on 01/05/2016
Parents, family, and friends joined us on Friday, December 18th, for an award ceremony, refreshments, and guest speakers.

The festivities began with our credit celebration and award ceremony.  Certificates were awarded to students for each completed class.  Alan C., Josie S., and Leslie R., each received recognition for having perfect attendance for the first 12 weeks.  The students surprised each member of the staff with a rose and a journal with special notes of appreciation from the students.

After refreshments, guests, students, and staff rotated between presentations by Proyecto Imigrante ICS, Inc. and Community Action Partners.

Proyecto Imigrante ICS, Inc. is an Immigration Counseling Service.  Information was shared regarding family visa petitions, adjustments of status, citizenship, consular processing, waivers, renewal of residence card, employment authorization application renewal as well as other services the agency offers.

Community Action Partners is a neighborhood resource located at 920 Roberts Cut-Off Road.  Information was shared on available programs including: food pantry, school supply distribution program, bread ministry, "Happy Heads" family lice removal and many others.  The audience also received information on direct assistance and referrals for utility assistance as well as job referrals.

Wrapping up the early release day, students and staff participated in a feast of delicious varieties of food from various cultures.  Mrs. Mihalicz treated everyone to "cooked on the spot" yummy beignets and Ms. Glasser shared a fun math activity which resulted in the making of ice cream in storage baggies.
